How to Order Pants or Shorts:
Find out your waist and inseam (leg length). For a sitter, lie down, find your bottom rib, and measure all the way around just under the rib. If you measure seated in your chair, the measurement will be larger than the ideal pant waist because we want the pant to cling. People who measure their waist at 52” can often be fit with a 44” pattern with elastic added to the waist to make 48”, for example. The inseam does not affect the price. We hem to the inseam length you indicate. Once you have your waist and inseam size, select the fabric and color. If you want adaptations, add them before checkout.
For example when ordering sitter pants:
1- First, select your waist size range and corresponding part number (if your waist size is 36” click on the radio button that corresponds to the following text: Waist Size Between 34"-38"
2- Second, type in your measured waist size in the “Specify Your Waist Size” field: (36”)
3- Third, type in your inseam length in the “Specify Your Inseam Length” field: (30”)
4- Forth, select the type of fabric and color you want from the drop down list: (Denim-Indigo).
5- Fifth, enter the quantity you want to order and then click the “Add To Basket” button.
If you want add some options, below the last photo of the pants there is a link which reads, “Click here to add some options for your pants”, clicking the word “here” will conveniently take you to the options that correspond with what you are ordering. You might want to select part # 816: Flare the lower leg to go over boots, or part # 812: Two outside seam zippers running down from waist to calf. Click on the corresponding item name for more detail then add them to your basket.
The double side zipper pants don’t open in the center the way our basic hook and loop fly pant does. You can access a catheter with either style. Side zippers make dressing a lot easier when a caregiver is involved. The gripper fly is easier when using a urinal because it won’t pop up; you can lie it between your legs without pushing down against fabric stretched across your thighs.. Then, when finished, slap at the fly, and it closes. In contrast, the side zippers allow you to check an external catheter tube all the way down, but the zippers have to be closed by leaning on the other hip and pulling the top of the pant together while zipping.
Adaptations:
At no charge, we offer reversing the fly, belt loops, pull loops, widening or narrowing the lower leg, adding an elastic cuff like sweatpants, and/or adding to the waist while using the hip measurement. We do charge for adding pockets where you indicate, adding lower leg zippers, or adding 30” outside seam zippers. The double outside seam zippers are offered with a fake fly. If you order a 34” inseam, you may receive a 35” inseam. This is done because we know that the fabric shrinks, and are making allowances for that.
We offer side seam zippers or tabs of hook and loop running down from the waist to the fly. Our fly goes down to within 1/2" of the leg seam so that you can comfortably use a urinal. Side zippers are excellent for the person dressed by others, or for people getting dialysis or wound care. Our double 30” side zippers are heavy duty Vislan (vinyl). They unzip to mid -calf. A tab at the top holds the zipper shut. The front flops down when both side zippers are unzipped. Zippers are most successful in a stretchy fabric. These zippers are strong, and rarely break. Our hook and loop is strong enough to hold the firmest fabric. We can make the squares smaller if you have trouble opening the Velcro. Just ask! You may have to take a knife to the loops to clean out any lint after many washes, but good hook and loop never wears out. It just needs cleaning. Our jeans are twelve years old, and the Velcro still holds. If you want no opening, order the pant waist 2” larger than you need and order a stretchy fabric, such as stretch denim, knit, or fleece, for a pull up elastic waist pant with a fake fly. You could also order a drawstring. This no opening style is most successful with the stretchy waffle weave knit, and when the person has a waist and a hip very close in size.
