Twill - Our dressiest fabric. Has a slight sheen, is lighter weight (6 ounces), and may be stretch or non-stretch. Dockers are twill. Colors are black, navy, khaki, wheat, light gray, dark gray, chocolate, or olive. We have distressed twill in khaki and navy; it’s soft feeling, with random irregularities that give it a casual, Western look, and it feels like linen. The stretch twill, very comfortable, is 97% cotton and 3% Spandex. It may shrink ½” in the wash, so we hem your pants 1” longer so they don’t end up too short. Best to remove cotton pants from the dryer before they are quite dry, and hang until dry. Fabric makers tell us that there are two markets for twill - uniform makers who want polyester twill for colorfastness, no shrinkage, and durability; and women’s wear, who want all cotton for naturalness and breathability. Because these two customer types dominate the market, we can’t get a mix of mostly cotton with a little polyester anymore. These twill slacks came out of the dryer without shrinking and with very little wrinkling. All we can do with the 100% cotton twills that we can purchase now are to warn our customers to remove them from the dryer as soon as possible and hang them. If you own an iron, giving them a light pressing will make them seem dressier. The 100% polyester twills feel slippery and don’t breathe.
- Washed Denim
Stretch Denim - In indigo blue and black, this 95% cotton and 5% Spandex fabric may shrink 1/2" in the wash. Wash in cold water at first. Take out of the dryer before quite dry, and hang. A little wrinkling looks natural with denim. These wrinkles generally disappear when the pants are on. Close any velcro before washing. This is a jean with extraordinary comfort for sitters. Works very well with side zippers. Waist stretches 4" sideways. Most denim is 10 ounce. Stretch denim is 6-8 ounce, a summery weight.
Brushed Bull Denim - 100% cotton 10 ounce medium weight non-stretch denim. In black, gray, khaki, cocoa, or navy. Has a soft feel because it is brushed before dying. Sturdy and handsome looking. Wears well. Soft to the touch, and mellow. Feels like a heavier twill. Very nice look. Has a strong and firm waistband.
Distressed Bull Denim - 100% cotton non-stretch denim. In black, gray, khaki, cocoa, or navy. Made with casual irregularities, this soft, smooth 10 ounce medium weight denim is comfortable and warm in winter. Wears very well.
Stonewashed Denim - 10 ounce regular “Wrangler” type denim. Bleeds in the wash, but shrinks little. Pre-washed. 10 ounce denim is much more comfortable to sit in than 12 or 14 ounce denim. Heavy denim wears longer than medium weight, but may dig in body creases. The darkest color is not washed. Light colors are washed.
Interlock Knit - a lightweight, soft and stretchy fabric that is wonderfully comfortable, but not extremely durable. It might slide a little on a nylon cushion. If you tend to get pressure sores, this is the fabric for you. In brown, navy, black, charcoal, royal blue, pale blue, or heather gray. For the ladies, we have hot pink, white, baby pink, teal, lavender, or purple, also. The fabric content is 65% polyester and 35% cotton. We can get 100% cotton knit, but it is hard to control the shrinkage. It may shrink more than twice and more than 2”.
Sweatshirt Fleece - 400 weight open weave, slightly stretchy fleece that is soft and fuzzy on the inside and smooth on the outside. To minimize that sweat-pant look, we use a regular hem so this pant can go out to dinner. Brown, black, charcoal, or heather gray fleece is 85% cotton and 15% polyester. The navy fleece and all the exciting feminine colors, such as taupe, Robin’s Egg blue, pink, or lavender, are 85% polyester and 15% cotton. Neither of these fiber contents pills and both wash well.
